Everything is a distraction today isn't it? We are bombarded from all sides - and from all forms of media - telling us what to believe, how to react, even how to live. It never ends. Here's my reminder to all of us to choose our sources wisely and get the garbage out of our minds and consequently out of our lives. Whether it's toxic media, toxic people, or even the rabbit holes we go down and wonder why... it's just not worth the aggravation and the negativity. Choose wisely and simplify. Love all y'all!

Well, hello there once again. Welcome to SMFR, the podcast. I'm your host, Steve Reeb. I've got a little something different today, and it's something that's been on my mind. And um I you'll probably well, I don't know if you'll agree with me, but it happens to us all. And my son, Trevor, had texted me this morning something about um, and uh this isn't a political uh podcast, obviously, but it's just I'm I'm all about getting to the truth on things and making our lives better by simplifying and getting all the garbage out of the way. So anyway, Trevor had texted me this morning, in fact, just about an hour ago, and it seems like we're arm in arm with another nation's military, and it's a Tucker uh Carlson podcast. Now, there's all kinds of stuff out there. It has to do with Israel and the United States and all that. We are constantly bombarded, left and right, especially with the access to the media that we have, to access to everything, social media, you know, whoever watches mainstream news, if you still do, unplug that TV set, folks, because all of it's garbage. I mean, Fox, um even Fox, who they were kind of the bastion of uh, I don't know, maybe conservatism, the truths, whatever you want to call it, whatever you want to call it, but even now they're kind of you just don't know what to believe. That's my whole point. So we have to choose our sources carefully. Some of these, most of these folks out there, and I'm convinced, political on both sides, they're in it to make as much money as they can. You look at our Congress, they come out of Congress and they're making so much money, then their salaries aren't nearly what they're worth is when they get out of Congress or while they're still in Congress. I'm not gonna get into all that, but I do want you all, like like I do from time to time, and I don't do it enough, but I I'm gonna do it more. Clean up the phone, get rid of the garbage as much as possible. All the stupidity. We have enough things going in our lives, right? We have our families to take care of, we have to put food on the table, taxes, all that stuff. Everything just keeps on just blowing up, and then we have to deal with stress from what to believe. Well, hell with that. We don't need that, we don't need that in our lives. So I would encourage you, like I do. I use Twitter, but I use it for good stuff, you know, check scores and the people that I really want to hear from on both sides of the aisle so I can make an informed decision, all that kind of stuff. Um, Facebook the same way. I use it to promote my music or share family pictures. But when people start griping and pissing and moaning on Facebook, I'm like, goodbye, goodbye. Don't want to hear it, don't want to hear it. That's not what we get on there for. But if we allow, if we make people friends with people, they'll slowly creep in there, right? Get rid of them, get purge that crap, right? On all of them. Instagram, Instagram's probably the best of them all. I have a several friends. One of my good friends has um a boxer dog. I like seeing the pictures of her on vacations with her dog uh and her husband and just stuff like that. People that I are out of town. So anyway, you get what I'm saying, but we we cannot let this creep into our lives and take over. It's just too much. I guess um ignorance is bliss, and I guess I'm pretty ignorant because I just don't deal with that stuff at all anymore. Although at times it gets in there, and I'm like, no, why did I look at that? Why did I go down that rabbit hole? Again, we have to choose our sources correctly to keep our lives simplified and uplifting and happy. Otherwise, we'll start worrying about stuff we shouldn't have to worry about. Or maybe we do should worry about it, but we're getting it from the wrong source. So, what however we can keep things clean, and I'm not gonna give you any suggestions, you you know what you're doing. This is just a reminder to get that garbage out of your life, just like toxic people. People you go out to maybe have a tea or a coffee or a beer, and people start yammering at you about this and that, and it's like, no, go somewhere else, right? That's my um I I have a little theory, I keep my laptop with me. And if I go somewhere to have lunch, uh I set the laptop up. So I call it my anti-ch device, anti-A-O device. And if people come up, I'll just ignore them and start doing acting like I'm doing emails, or really doing emails. But we have to keep that toxicity out of our lives, choose our sources, choose our friends, and choose everything so that we can simplify our lives and go home happy and be happy around those we love. Otherwise, it's it's a distraction, it's a major distraction. And I I come to believe that all this stuff's a distraction from what's really going on underneath the surface, but that's a whole podcast for a whole nother day. And again, I choose to keep that stuff at arm's length. I try to keep my family protected, I try to keep myself healthy, and I try to maintain good friends around me. And I try my best to choose my sources as best I can so that I'm a happy boy. Anyway, that's pretty much all I've got. So um I didn't I hope I didn't ramble here, but I had to get that off my chest. Trevor brings up a good point and and and all this stuff, but I'm I would urge him and and all of us just to kind of let it go at times. We have to stay informed, especially the younger folks. I'll be taking a dirt nap. Who knows what's going to happen? Uh, but in the future, but in in the meantime, hey, let's be happy, let's pick our sources and let's enjoy each other's company while we're here. Not here for a long time, here for a good time. SMFR of the podcast, I love all y'all. We will talk again soon. God bless y'all. Steve Reaps signing off. Take care, y'all.
